💊 How to make a static list behave like a smart list
Static lists are underrated. While smart lists get all the love, static lists are incredibly useful — especially when integrating with third-party tools that require a fixed audience. Think MediaMath, AdRoll, LinkedIn… they all rely on static lists to sync properly.
But what if you want that static list to update automatically, like a smart list? You can. Here’s how 👇
🧠 Step 1: Build Your Smart List
Create a smart list with your exact criteria (e.g., leads in “Nurture” stage). This becomes the “source of truth.”
📋 Step 2: Create a Static List
Give it the same name as your smart list (makes pairing easier), and run a single flow action to add all smart list members to the static list.
⚙️ Step 3: Smart Campaign Logic
Use advanced filters in your smart campaign to detect:
- Leads who should be on the list but aren’t
- Leads who are on the list but shouldn’t be
🧩 Smart Campaign Flow
- Add leads who are on the smart list
- Wait 3 minutes (optional buffer)
- Remove leads not on the smart list anymore
🕒 Step 4: Schedule It Nightly
Run the campaign daily to keep your static list in sync. Now you’ve got a “dynamic” static list that’s always fresh and ready to sync!
💡 Why do this?
Some platforms require static lists, not dynamic ones — but this method gives you the best of both worlds.

Save it for next time you need a clean list for a media sync, share it with your ops team, or tag a teammate who still thinks static lists are useless 😏
